Calgary Passport Office: Help, Maps, Directions, Links, Hours + Wait Times

Calgary Passport Office Information

Looking to travel internationally from Calgary, either driving to the USA or flying internationally out of Calgary International Airport?

You will require a passport for either of these situations.

On an unrelated note, if you're from Calgary, check out WIND Mobile's prices, a new cell phone company, which is an alternative to Bell/Rogers/Telus. They also have great roaming rates internationally. Check here for a list of their retail locations in Calgary.

The Calgary Passport Office is the "full-service" variety, which offers urgent, rush and express Canadian Passport service. They can accept applications and answer basic and advanced questions, because the people that work there mainly deal with passport applications, not Canada Post nor regular government service stuff. Personally, I do not recommend the various "passport expediter" services that exist, as most just double check your application, and then submit it on your behalf, which you can do yourself by waiting in line. I believe you can still skip most of the line if you fill out one of the Simplified Canadian Passport Applications first. If you don't need your passport soon, as in within 4 weeks, just mail in your application.

Calgary actually has TWO of these full-service offices. Just go to whichever is closer.

I also don't recommend the "Service Centre" passport applications, you can just mail in your passport in these instances, since they barely make things faster.

Calgary Passport Office Wait Times

Well, I'll be honest, I'm not from Calgary, but I believe that wait times have died down substantially from what they were a few years ago. For the most part, avoid applications on Mondays and Fridays, they tend to be the busiest days. As well, try to arrive very early (before opening), if you need a rush application passport and need it within a few days. Also, get your passport before the "busy" times of year, like a week or two before reading week for university students and New Years. Overall, I don't expect waits to be that bad, most of the big wave of people that got a passport when the US first required it for driving across already got it (keep in mind, most passports are printed in just a couple places in Canada, so even if most Calgarians don't drive to the USA, they still suffer from the procrastinators that do).

Please leave a comment with your wait time experience at the Calgary Passport Offices when submitting your applications (plus help on parking too!).
